The aims and objects of the Center are to undertake research and publication of various aspects of the Bengali Language and Literature.
ULAB’s Center for Bangla Studies, in collaboration with Agamee Prakashani, Dhaka, has published an anthology, titled, “Centenary of Rabindranath’s Noble Prize of Gitanjali by Rabindranath Tagore.” This anthology includes 10 Bengali and English verses, as well as the introductions of the English and French editions written by W.B. Yeast and Andre Gide. It also includes the presentation speech given by Mr. Harald Hjärne, Chairman of the Nobel Committee of the Swedish Academy, and the acceptance speech given by Tagore. The anthology was edited by Emeritus Professor Rafiqul Islam, Advisor, Center for Bangla Studies.
In addition, The following three projects have been undertaken:
- A survey of the development of Bengali language and Literature in the 20th century by Prof. Rafiqul Islam, Dr. Begum Jahan Ara and Dr. Tapati Rani Sarkar.
- A manual of standard colloquial Bengali by Dr. Begum Jahan Ara.
- Bangla dialect variations, documentations and analysis by Dr. Tapati Rani Sarkar.
১) নোবেল পুরস্কারপ্রাপ্ত রবীন্দ্রনাথের গীতাঞ্জলীর মূল পান্ডুলিপির অনুলিপিসহ একটি গ্রন্থ।
২) বাংলা ভাষার উপভাষা বৈচিত্র সম্পর্কে একটি গ্রন্থ।
৩) বিদেশীদের বাংলা শেখানোর জন্য একটি গ্রন্থ। ও
৪) হাজার বছরের বাংলা ভাষা ও সাহিত্যের ভাষাতাত্ত্বিক বৈশিষ্ট্য এবং বিভিন্ন যুগের উল্লেখযোগ্য সাহিত্যিক নিদর্শনের সংকলন প্রকাশ করা হয়েছে।
